One of my favorite podcasts is The SalesRoundup Podcast (www.salesroundup.com).

This podcast is directed to anyone finding themselves in a "sales" role.  Whether you sell to internal or external customers; sell a product or a service; new to sales or a seasoned veteran....Sales Roundup Podcast provides "can't miss content" in an extremely fun and lighthearted manner.

Each week, Joe and Mike (the hosts) share their thoughts and experiences, as well as interview a sales expert and/or an author.

Check out the Episode 56 from Oct 23.  I am interviewed about That Was Zen, This Is Wow.

OK...they call me Bob vs. Rob a couple of times.  But hey...the content is still great. :-)

I will be moderating a panel discussion on the topic of Emerging Media on November 8 at 3:45pm at the Holiday Inn - Chicago Mart Plaza, 350 N. Orleans St., Chicago

The 90-minute program entitled Emerging Media: First, Break all the Rules - Again is part of the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing's Bob Stone Education Days annual conference.

My panelists include

  1. Heidi Miller, Corporate Spokesperson and Podcaster, Heidi Miller Presentations;
  2. Shabbir Safdar, CTO, Mindshare Interactive Campaigns;

I am really looking forward to this event.  Following is a description I have written for the program guide:

Podcasting, Blogging & Texting are not what they used to be - they are bigger, better and here to stay.  Whether you focus in the B2B, B2C, B2G, or P2P space, this is a "can't miss" opportunity to get real-life tips and ideas from a diverse panel of marketing practitioners who are successfully implementing new technology mediums to build strong customer relationships in a cost-efficient manner.

Episode 5 (Study the Real Purpose) looks at Zen 2 Wow idea # 160 -- A coffee table should be judged by what your heels say.  Study the real purpose of thoughts and things.

This concept refers to one of the most important, yet most overlooked, ways we communicate -- Listening.

In the podcast I....

a) ... define the difference between Hearing and Listening

b) ... explain why listening builds strong relationships

c) ... talk about what stops us from listening

d) ... share 5 ideas to become a better listener.

What would you recommend to someone who came to you looking for advice on becoming a better listener?  Leave your comment below, or shoot me an e-mail at rob@engelmanmanagement.com

Have a great day.

Episode 4 (Meaningful Revolutions) investigates Zen 2 Wow idea # 225 -- Your revolution doesn't have to be really big -- just meaningful.

The term "revolution" is really a metaphor for Marketing Plans.  While I do believe that marketing plans are critical for the success of one's business, they do not have to be big, elaborate, time consuming to create, or expensive to implement.

This episode reviews several elements of a marketing plan including:

1) Goals

2) Target Audience

3) Product or Service Definition

4) Tactical Ideas

5) Time Lines and Action Steps

6) Accountability

Here are a links to other articles I have written that talk about marketing plans:

Another format I like is the SUREFIRE format to marketing plans:

Set SMART goals for the short and long-term

Uncover the needs of your target market

Reflect on the ways you solve client's problems / pains.

Establish clear, concise messages

Formulate lists of activities to get your message out

Institute detailed action plans on a daily, weekly, monthly

Request accountability

Enjoy stepping up and taking a BIG SWING

Let me know what you think.
